On December 21, 2016, Slot Attendant Kyle Watson was driving home after he completed his shift when noticed a Jeep that was flipped upside down on the road. He and another couple pulled over to access the accident. The couple was contacting help while Kyle went to the car to see if the driver was injured.
After confirming that the driver was still in the seat with a seat belt on, he decided to try to open both the drive side and passenger side doors but was unable to due to the amount of damage to the vehicle. Kyle then unzipped the back window of the Jeep and crawled in and unbuckled the seat belt releasing the driver and turned off the ignition to avoid any possible issues with the vehicle.
Kyle got the driver out of the vehicle and waited for help to arrive to the scene. Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the patient. It is possible that the Jeep may have caught fire or possible been hit by another vehicle. The driver survived this incident due to the quick thinking of Kyle and medical care provided by Paramedics.
Sycuan is proud to present Kyle with the Life Saving Medal in recognition of his exceptional professional ability, knowledge and rapid response in this situation.
