The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation Donates $100,000 to Four Charities During the 34th Annual Sycuan Cup Golf Tournament
With a tradition of giving back, The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation hosted the annual Sycuan Cup Golf Tournament at Singing Hills Golf Course to raise funds for the four nonprofits. The Sycuan Tribal Council members presented a total of $100,000 to the nonprofits to support their causes in education, health and human services, and social programs.
“I want to thank all attendees for your support because it has enabled Sycuan to raise $100,000 for four incredible nonprofits. Together, we’re making a difference and strengthening the lives of those who need it the most,” Chairman Cody Martinez from the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation said.
During the beneficiary awards ceremony, the Sycuan Tribal Council presented $25,000 to each nonprofit such as SBCS (formerly South Bay Community Services), HorsePlay Collective, War Party Ranch and Elymash Yuuchaap Scholars and Leaders Program at the Native Resource Center at SDSU.
The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation is committed to enhancing the well-being of its community. For that reason, we’re helping the following nonprofits further their mission in their respective communities.
The Sycuan Cup is an annual charity golf tournament hosted by the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, celebrating over three decades of philanthropic community support and sporting tradition. With great leadership from the Sycuan Council members, they bring together tribal members, beneficiaries, and event sponsors for a day of golf with a focus on raising funds for different nonprofits.
Annually, the event aims to raise $100,000 to help the nonprofits serve the community through their respective missions. While attendees enjoy a day of golfing, they also participate in scheduled activities, including a welcome breakfast, awards ceremony, check presentation with a speech, and prizes, followed by a dinner ceremony.
With the support of all attendees, the 34th Annual Sycuan Cup Golf Tournament delivered a successful weekend of competition, sportsmanship, and community spirit. Thanks to everyone who swinged for a cause, we’re able to strengthen our community together. With a total of $100,000 being donated to four charities, the event supported each nonprofits respective mission.
