Sycuan Tribe Donates $25,000 to the MESA Foundation

Dribbling With A Purpose: How The Sycuan Tribe and MESA Shape Players Into Leaders
Every team needs strong supporters. That’s why the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation is proud to support the San Diego Aztec Basketball team far beyond the courts. By donating $25,000 to the MESA Foundation, we continue to help the nonprofit with shaping student-athletes into strong leaders, advocates, and changemakers.

“We’re so proud to partner with Sycuan again and continue to cultivate other relationships through our Sycuan network and continue to make an impact with the community,” Caroline Ripley, the Director of Operations at MESA, said.

This contribution supports MESA’s mission to connect Aztec Basketball student-athletes with local charities, nonprofit organizations, and businesses. Additionally, they learn the value of giving back and the power of raising awareness for local causes. Through this connection, student-athletes help create a lasting impact on the San Diego community.

Success isn’t just measured in points scored or games won; it’s reflected in the character built, the lives touched, and the communities uplifted. When student-athletes are given opportunities to lead and serve, they dribble with purpose and take shots that are worth more than a three-pointer.

Conclusion
The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation’s continued support of the San Diego Aztec Basketball team and the MESA Foundation is a powerful reminder that true champions are made both on and off the court. By investing in the growth of student-athletes as leaders and community advocates, Sycuan is helping shape a legacy rooted in service, integrity, and impact.
