Sycuan Celebrates its 32nd Anniversary December 1, 2015 San Diego’s longest continually operational casino, Sycuan, will mark its 32nd year in business this past November. Once known as the Sycuan Bingo Palace, the property opened its doors in 1983 as a 20,000 square foot gaming facility founded by the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation – a group that has inhabited the current San Diego and Imperial Counties longer than the pyramids have been in Egypt. It was not until the year 2000 when voters showed support for Indian gaming and approved Proposition 1A that the casino was able to open the current 305,000 square foot building. Today, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, along with Sycuan Casino, have dedicated themselves to being both a leader in the local gaming market as well as a philanthropic leader. Sycuan is committed to giving back to the community that made it successful, supporting over 700 local charities and community partners in the last year alone. In the Hot Seat Drawings promotion, table games winners won their share of $32,000 all month long. Bingo players were able to win their share of over $150,000 in payouts plus a Mercedes with advance buy-in.
