Sycuan Will Host a Benefit Concert to Support Red Cross

Supporting the community has always been part of Sycuan Casino’s way of giving back. Whether it is monetary or in kind contributions, they share their social engagement with over 700 organizations in the region. So when it came to partnering with the American Red Cross of San Diego/Imperial Counties it was a natural for Sycuan.
Though the casino had already been involved with the American Red Cross through its own police and fire departments, this year they have upped the ante. Along with the organization’s CEO Bill Earley, Sycuan will receive with open arms the Shelter of Hope campaign on its grounds for the second year.
As part of the week’s event, Earley will be living and working out of a simulated disaster shelter from June 2 – 5, traveling throughout the county and popping up in some unexpected places. On June 3rd, Sycuan will be hosting a benefit concert to continue the Red Cross’s mission to be there when disaster strikes and relief cannot wait.
Together with local favorite acts like comedian Dustin Nickerson, singer Lee Coulter and Johnny Cash cover band extraordinaire, Cash’d Out will help make the weekend’s fundraiser concert a success. “Shelter of Hope is an opportunity to help share our story and remind everyone that the Red Cross is here, providing help and hope every day,” comments Earley to Giving Back Magazine. “It brings awareness to the vital services we provide in the community with the help of our partners and supporters – like Sycuan.”
It is important to Sycuan Casino to aid the Red Cross in helping people open their eyes and recognize the important efforts the organization makes in the region. Shelter of Hope was developed as a way to not only educate community members about the Red Cross, but also to showcase just how critical donations are to ensuring the Red Cross mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies.
Whether it is a middle-of-the-night home fire or a wildfire threatening an entire community, the American Red Cross is there. In times of emergency, families need food, water, first aid and emotional support. They need safe shelter, and sometimes, a shoulder to cry on. They need the Red Cross.
Every 24 hours, the Red Cross responds to a house fire or other type of disaster right here in San Diego and Imperial Counties, providing a ray of light to a family in crisis. In less than two minutes, a house fire can engulf a home leaving a family with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. When disasters strike, it takes the whole community to get them back on their feet and Sycuan knows this. With generous and thoughtful support, Red Cross volunteers are there – neighbors helping neighbors.
It is a reminder that disaster can strike anytime, and though the Red Cross will be there, they also need the community’s support. All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
“The Red Cross empowers ordinary people to perform extraordinary acts in emergency situations. We train. We mobilize. We connect donors and volunteers to those in urgent need of a helping hand. Whether it is a wildfire or a heart attack, a call for help after a devastating home fire, or a call from a service member or military family in need, the Red Cross is there,” says Earley.
“We’re so thankful for Sycuan’s support of Shelter of Hope. Sycuan is a great long-time partner of the American Red Cross. They share our commitment to creating safer, stronger, and more resilient communities together.”
