That spirit was on full display at the 35th Sycuan Cup Golf Tournament, where every swing, putt and drive contributed to something bigger than the scorecard. Held at Singing Hills Golf Club, this year’s tournament brought together community leaders, partners and supporters for a shared purpose: uplifting local nonprofits. On Wednesday, June 3, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation proudly presented a total of $100,000 to four organizations making a meaningful difference throughout San Diego County. Supporting Organizations That Make a Difference Each of the following nonprofits received $25,000 to further their mission and expand their impact: Kumeyaay Diegueño Land Conservancy (KDLC) – preserving and protecting culturally significant land 4Corners K-9 Search and Rescue – assisting in lifesaving search and recovery efforts St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center – empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities East County Transitional Living Center – supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and hardship By supporting causes ranging from environmental conservation to public safety and human services, the Sycuan Cup continues to invest in the diverse needs of the community. More Than Just a Tournament For Chairman Cody Martinez of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, the event represents something deeper than a friendly round of golf. “We are very grateful for your support, for your partnership and your commitment to making a positive difference here in San Diego County,” Martinez shared. “This tournament today is about much more than a day of golf. It is an opportunity for all of us to come together in the spirit of giving, friendship and service to our community. This spirit of connection and purpose is what has brought the tournament together for the past 35 years. A Celebration of Community The festivities kicked off on Tuesday, June 2, with a lively Welcome Party at Sycuan Casino Resort’s pool venue, Retreat Pool & Cabanas. Attendees had the chance to relax, connect and build relationships ahead of the tournament. The following morning, over 300 participants gathered for breakfast and networking before heading out to the course. Along the way, they learned more about each nonprofit’s mission and the real-world impact of their work. Chairman Cody Martinez and the Sycuan Tribal Council also presented donations to each organization, recognizing their dedication to serving the community. 35 Years of Lasting Impact For over three decades, the Sycuan Cup has been a cornerstone event that unites people in support of meaningful causes. Each year, the Sycuan Tribal Council selects nonprofit partners with different missions, from youth development and the arts to healthcare and social services, among others. The event also serves as a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together with a shared vision. As the Sycuan Cup celebrates its 35th year, its legacy continues to grow—strengthening partnerships, uplifting organizations and driving lasting impact across San Diego and beyond.
