Mama’s Kitchen Thanksgiving Bake Sale Sycuan donated 1,000 pies to Mama’s Kitchen for their Annual Thanksgiving Bake Sale. The annual event helps raise critical funds for the nonprofit to provide nutrition services to San Diegans vulnerable to hunger due to HIV, cancer, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and now chronic kidney disease. All proceeds from the pie sales directly fund Mama’s Kitchen’s services and programs. Additionally, Sycuan’s Executive Chef, Paul Schwab appeared live on KUSI to show viewers how to reuse any leftover apple pie to make a delicious Apple Pie Bread Pudding. Apple Pie Bread Pudding Recipe 7 cups cubed bread, dry or toasted* 3 medium apples, peeled, cored and chopped 4 eggs 2 cups milk 2 tsp cinnamon ½ tsp nutmeg ½ c sugar 2 cups pie crust or more if you desire Instructions Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray. In a large bowl, milk, eggs, 1 tsp cinnamon, nutmeg, and ½ cup sugar. Gently fold in the bread cubes. Pour into the prepared pan. Take leftover apple filling and sprinkle on top of the bread pudding. Bake 30-40 minutes until puffed and golden brown. Top with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce.
