Welcome To Sycuan Casino & Resort

The generosity of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation has been experienced and well documented over the years by a wide variety of charitable and civic groups and individuals throughout San Diego County. Sycuan's spirit of sharing goes beyond this financial assistance, however. Neighbors in East County and beyond have experienced Sycuan's hospitality first-hand as the tribe has opened its facilities and resources to the surrounding communities.

The Sycuan Fire Department, originally established in 1974 to provide full-time protection for the reservation, now helps with fire fighting and emergency medical help for the surrounding 700 square miles, as well. Sycuan fire fighters and specially trained forest fire crews have answered the call for help throughout the Southwest, including support to fight brush and wild fires throughout the region and assisting in the Columbia Space Shuttle recovery program in Texas.

The Sycuan Medical & Dental Center serves the primary health care needs of the tribe and Sycuan employees, as well as neighboring East County residents. Over 25 medical and dental professionals work within the modern facility, which includes a full-service pharmacy.

Sycuan recognizes the future of Sycuan's social and economic advancement depends on promoting education of Sycuan's future leaders. Education is important for the revitalization, retention, and maintenance of traditional knowledge that was passed to Sycuan through ancestors. Sycuan recognizes the crucial role of Indigenous knowledge as an integral part of Nation building in the present and future education of its tribal members and the Kumeyaay Nation at large.

The Sycuan Education Department has created several programs to meet the growing educational needs of its tribal members and the Kumeyaay Community. These programs were designed to meet all levels of educational needs, from kindergarten to post-secondary education. These programs are based upon the best Indigenous knowledge and Western knowledge so that each student can receive a well-balanced education.

The programs are:
. Mommy and Me
. Infants and Toddlers
. Preschool Program
. After School Program
. School Break and Summer Activities
. GED Classes
. Kumeyaay Language Institute
. Kumeyaay Community College

Established by the Sycuan Band to support Kumeyaay cultural identity, sovereignty and self-determination, while meeting the educational needs of Native and non-Native students, KCC places a special focus on the Kumeyaay language, Kumeyaay Philosophy, and traditional Indigenous arts such as Kumeyaay basketry. Additional areas of focus are Kumeyaay history, federal Indian law and policy, and computer skills.

A primary focus of KCC is to strike a healthy balance between traditional Indigenous and Western systems of knowledge.

Kumeyaay Community College
is a tribal institution dedicated to the research of Kumeyaay traditional knowledge. Kumeyaay Community College is created and maintained by the sovereign power of the Kumeyaay people as an educational organization designed to teach the younger generations of the People as well and the non-Kumeyaay population at large.

Kumeyaay Community College is dedicated to creating a program of superior education and academic training through Native people's worldview with an emphasis on the Kumeyaay perspective.

Tribally defined educational needs are unique and embrace a variety of topics: language, culture, history, Indian law, political science, tribal and state relations, models of citizenship from around the world, Indigenous studies, models that foster direct youth participation in the social, economic, and political affairs of the nation.

Kumeyaay Community College will engage in research, education, publishing, and linguistic preservation in order to continue the traditional knowledge of the Kumeyaay Nation.

KCC has a unique partnership with Cuyamaca Community College, a local state college. Cuyamaca Community College, in partnership with KCC, currently offers Kumeyaay Language (years 1 and 2), Kumeyaay Ethno Botany, and Kumeyaay History for credit toward their AA Degree. These credits are transferable to other state colleges.

Sycuan also offers a comprehensive Child Care Program which is available to not only Sycuan tribal members, but to Sycuan's employees and the local community as well. Led by a professional, caring and well trained staff, Sycuan's child care program is open from 6:00 am to 11:30 pm Monday through Friday

These facilities and the manner in which they are shared are testimony to Sycuan's dedication to being a good neighbor and a positive force within the East County community.and beyond.
