Sycuan Reaches Agreement with Governor on Amended Compact
Extension to 2030 Will Provide More than $1 Billion
in New General Fund Revenues

San Diego, CA (August 30, 2006) – The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation has reached an agreement with Governor Arnold Swarzenegger to extend until December 31, 2030 its existing gaming Compact with the State. In return for agreeing to a nearly ten-fold increase in payments to the State for its existing 2,000 slot machines ($20 million per year), and significant changes to various regulatory provisions in its existing compact, the new agreement will allow the Tribe to operate up to an additional 3,000 slot machines on its Indian lands. Under the amended agreement, Sycuan will pay the State 15% of its net win on additional machines. Payments to the State would exceed $1 billion over the term of the amended compact.

“We are very appreciative of the attention and hard work that the Governor and his staff devoted to reaching this agreement,” said Daniel Tucker, Sycuan Tribal Chairman. “This amended Compact will benefit the citizens of the State and the San Diego region and will also allow the Sycuan Tribe to remain self reliant and continue our on-going commitments to support community organizations throughout our region.”

The Sycuan Tribal Government operates one of the region's premier Indian gaming and resort facilities, the Sycuan Resort and Casino. The Tribe through the Sycuan Tribal Development Corporation (STDC) also seeks to reinvest back into the San Diego community with a progressive business development effort. The Tribe also owns and operates Sycuan Ringside Promotions, the country's first tribally owned boxing promotion company and Sycuan Funds, a publicly traded and professionally managed mutual fund. Combined, these enterprises now employ nearly 4,000 San Diegans. The Sycuan Tribe demonstrates its strong commitment to the San Diego region through its support of civic and charitable organizations.
